British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has been infected with the Corona VIRUS
Our topic today is how the British prime minister was infected and what happened to the government.
British Prime Minister Boris Johnson's infection with the new Coronavirus came to raise questions about the causes of the infection that he and his pregnant fiancé had put at risk.
Despite Johnson's repeated warnings, to British citizens, to be very careful, and his promise of sanctions for violators of the general closure in the country, he appeared in several personal meetings, in recent days.
The British government announced Johnson had been infected with the new coronavirus, after showing "moderate symptoms".
While Johnson will be subjected to self-isolation, the British media have asked whether Johnson follows the warnings he himself made during the week.
Johnson addressed the British on Monday: "If you do not comply with the laws to limit the spread of the Corona virus, the police have the authority to impose sanctions on you."
How do you catch the infection
The health authorities in Britain did not specify how the infection reached the Prime Minister, but throughout this week he chaired on a daily basis the emergency government meetings on Corona, which include some direct meetings with those who are at the heart of the health and economic response in the crisis.
On March 3, the Prime Minister revealed at a press conference that he shook hands with COVID-19 patients.
He said: "I was in a hospital last night where there were actually a few coronavirus patients, and I shook hands with everyone, and we would be pleased to know."
Johnson added that he would continue to shake hands, in a statement that contradicted his demand for social exclusion.
With his injury, Johnson will also expose his fiancée, Carrie Simmonds, to the risk of infection, while she is pregnant with their baby, and the news could push Carrie to move to another place of residence until Johnson recovers.
The fate of the government
Johnson's injury raises questions about the fate of the British government’s work. After he announced that he was HIV positive, Health Secretary Matt Hancock announced that he had a corona, saying his symptoms are moderate and he will remain in domestic isolation.
Johnson appeared at a press conference Thursday evening, in which he saluted the health workers in Britain, while he tried to keep a distance of two meters between him and the Minister of Economy Rishi Sonak, who also spoke at the conference, in addition to the presence of a number of journalists and officials.
In spite of the meeting of Sonak and Johnson on Thursday, the first refused to remain in quarantine, after announcing Johnson's injury, in a "strange" decision from the Minister of Economy who was appointed weeks ago, and who is supposed to be the most cautious among the members of the government due to his recent meeting.
But a spokesman for the British Prime Minister said that "all workers at government headquarters who are in contact with the Prime Minister will follow the public health instructions for the Corona virus," referring to tests and commitment to isolation if contact with the infected is proven.
The political editor of The Sun said: "Maybe the UK finance and health ministers would have to be self-isolated after spending time with Prime Minister Johnson."
Buckingham Palace also announced that Queen Elizabeth met Prime Minister Johnson on March 11, and is following all appropriate advice regarding her safety.
The palace had announced that the Prince of Wales, Prince Charles, had been confirmed to have contracted the new Corona virus (Covid 19), which had infected thousands of people in Britain.
A member of the Royal Institute for International Affairs, Abdullah Hammouda, told Sky News Arabia, "The headquarters of the British government are narrow and its corridors are very narrow, which indicates the potential for great mixing during the hours of the day."
Hammouda said: The nature of the headquarters in Britain creates very dangerous prospects, and a large number of the British government may be infected.
Johnson's appearance at Thursday's news conference was not the only one in recent days, as he decided to attend Parliament's regular session of questions Wednesday himself.
Johnson attended the question session, and was separated by a slight distance from Home Secretary Pretti Patel and Conservative Party member Mark Spencer, who were present next to him at the session.
A spokesman for Johnson had confirmed a few days ago, that Secretary of State Dominic Rapp would take over the government’s administration if Johnson suffered from a health problem.
But Johnson confirmed that he would continue to run the government remotely, with Rap preparing to take over if the prime minister's health worsened.
For his part, political scientist Ian Black told Sky News Arabia: "Johnson's injury to SK will reinforce the government's requests for people to isolate themselves."
He added: "The fact that there are influential people who have become infected will make people take warnings seriously."
